First UK Support Group Meeting - York, September 2006

The first UK support Group meeting was a resounding success, and all due to the drive and organisation of our support group leader, Irene Wilson.

The meeting was well attended, with 66 people at the meeting, consisting of adults and children showing many different manifestations of the disease.

Speakers were Dr. Andrew Walls, Reader in Immunopharmacology who gave a presentation on Mast Cells and James Wigmore of Hewlett Healthcare, who talked on Cromolyn and Altolyn. Two members of the group, Roger and Kay also gave their personal experiences of living with Mastocytosis - Roger talked about his wife - Elizabeth, and Kay gave a parent's perspective and talked about Leah.

Everyone agreed that it was a valuable source of information, and a wonderful opportunity to exchange notes with others.

A DVD of the meeting, including the speakers is available from Irene (winegums@blueyonder.co.uk)

We all look forward to the next meeting - to be arranged!!
