Mastocytosis is just one of a number of
conditions falling under the general umbrella of Mast Cell disease. Other
Mast Cell related conditions are:
Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD) -
Sufferers may show some of the symptoms of Mastocytosis, but will not have the clinical
diagnostic criteria.
Idiopathic Anaphylaxis (IA) - Sufferers
experience repeated Anaphylaxis but no underlying cause can be identified.
Urticaria Pigmentosa (UP) - In which Mast
Cells accumulate in clusters in the skin giving rise to a rash which may or may
not irritate.
Telangiectasia Macularis Eruptiva Perstans (TMEP)
- A sub
classification of UP and Cutaneous Mastocytosis in which the blood vessels in
the skin are dilated and can appear as webs or spots.
